STUDENT ADVISING
Faculty members do academic advising of all biology
majors within the department. All biology majors should register in
the departmental office (Room 130, E. E. Just Hall). Incoming freshman
are assigned faculty advisors who will advise the students until their
completion of the major in Biology. A student may change advisors,
but must do so through the departmental office. Students are expected
to formally declare their major in the College of Arts and Sciences
by the spring semester of their sophomore year, although formal declaration
of the major may be made after the accumulation of 30 credits hours
in the university. Graduation schemes for all departmental majors
are initiated in the Educational Advisory Center and completed by
Biology faculty members designated by the departmental chairperson.
All "program cards" and program changes (including withdrawals)
should be done in consultation with, and approved by, each student's
faculty advisor.
