Water Resources Research Experience for Undergraduates:
The Environmental Science Program at the University of Idaho is providing a Research Experience for Undergraduates who are underrepresented in the sciences, sponsored by a grant from the National Science Foundation. This nine-week summer experience involves research in water resources and will take place from early June to early August, 2007. Research projects will be conducted in areas such as forest canopy transpiration, ecohydrology of fish ecology, watershed restoration, water resources sustainability, forest hydrology and groundwater microbiology. Upcoming juniors and seniors are considered from a variety of science and engineering disciplines, including biology, ecology, natural resources, civil engineering, soil science, geology, and other environmental science and engineering programs related to water resources. Students must be U.S. citizens or a permanent residents to apply. Deadline for applying is February 15, 2007. Anheuser-Busch and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation are seeking applications for the 2007 Budweiser Conservation Scholarship Program, which seeks to support the next generation of leaders by providing scholarships to eligible graduate and undergraduate students who are poised to make a significant contribution to the field of conservation.

Through the program, ten scholarships of up to $10,000 each will be awarded to cover students' expenses for tuition, fees, books, room and board, and other direct expenses related to their studies. Awards will be made based on merit and will take into consideration the student's academic achievements and their ability and commitment to develop innovative solutions that are designed to address real and pressing issues affecting the conservation of natural resources. Specific areas of interest in 2007 include innovative research or study addressing the conservation of fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats, water conservation and watershed management, and conservation of natural resources through waste minimization, recycling, and litter prevention.
